Laplink Parallel Port Cable
$9.95 + $6 s/h

FileVan
requires that a cable be connected to a printer port (also called a parallel port) at each PC.

The required cable is most often called a Laplink Parallel Port Cable.

Cables that do NOT work go by the names: Null Modem cable and Straight-Through cable. If FileVan consistently cannot find a connection, you are probably using the wrong cable.

Any printer port (LPT 1, 2 or 3) is OK. FileVan will find which port has the cable.

The correct cable is available at most local computer stores and mail order sources. Rainy City also supplies the cable for $9.95.  The cable that we supply is 6 feet long.

A 2-way cable switch box is available when it is difficult to swap the printer cable with the file-transfer cable - Details

For those with the patience to make their own cable, here is the pin map.

DB25M at each end. Unreferenced pins are not used.
