Windows NT, 2000 And XP |
|
If it's your personal home PC, the following usually doesn't apply...
Administrator rights are required for successful installation of FileVan. In the case of most home PCs where Windows NT, 2000 or XP was installed by the user, that user has Administrator rights and nothing needs to be done. Just run the installation file, SetupF5T.Exe (trial) or SetupF5R.Exe (registered). When the PC is part of a network, the user may need to ask the Administrator to grant permission for all of the following steps made by the setup program (you don't need to perform these steps yourself, just make sure they are allowed)... |
The setup program will...
1) Create a directory (typically C:\FileVan5).
2) Extract files from this program and install them in
C:\FileVan4.
3) Copy MapMemP.Sys to \Windows\System32\Drivers folder.
4) Install MapMemP.Sys driver and set the registry to run
driver at startup.
5) Create a Start Menu entry, "FileVan 5" and 5 program items.
